BTC Wholesale Distributors is a wholesale distributor specializing in grocery and foodservice solutions for convenience stores and grocery stores throughout the southeast.
BTC Wholesale Distributors was started in 1927 by Frank D’Amico. He was an Italian immigrant that started as a coal miner. Deciding this was not for him, he opened a few grocery stores which later evolved into a distribution company. The business has grown from a traditional tobacco and candy distributor that serviced Birmingham AL, to a full line distribution company selling consumable goods to a variety of retail outlets in nine states. BTC services C-stores, pharmacies, grocery stores, discount stores & and other outlets selling consumable goods.
Today, we operate in a 190,000 square foot state of the art facility that is located in Alabaster, Alabama. During these changing times, BTC is changing and planning for the future to better serve our customer base. We have recently expanded our freezer and refrigerated capacity that will allow us to add over 1,500 items and will help us prepare for the increasing prevalence of on-the-go eating and food service in the c-store industry.
Our service area and product variety has grown tremendously, covering multiple states and carrying 8,000 SKU’s. In the years that we have been in business, much has changed, but our philosophy of customer service has remained the same. Whether it is for a national chain or an independent convenience store, BTC strives to be the vendor that can be depended on the most.

In 1945, BTC relocated its operations to a new and exciting location, namely the intersection of 5th Avenue and 15th Street North in Birmingham, Alabama. This move proved to be a major turning point for the company, as it marked a new era of growth and expansion for the business. Located just across the street from what would later become known as the famous A.G. Gaston Motel, BTC found itself situated in a bustling and vibrant part of town, filled with the energy and excitement that comes with being at the heart of a major urban center.
In the year 1951, the family welcomed the next generation into their ranks, in the form of a young man named Frank D'Amico Jr.. The arrival of Frank was a pivotal moment in the history of the D'Amico family business. With fresh ideas and a passion for the industry, he quickly proved himself to be an invaluable asset to the family enterprise.
In 1981, BTC decided to move to a new and bigger location on Airport Highway and 35th Street. This move was carried out to accommodate the growing number of customers who trusted BTC with more business than ever before.
The company has achieved remarkable success owing to its significant increase in sales and the expansion of its customer base. This growth has been largely due to the introduction of a diverse product mix, which has received a warm reception in the market. The company's management has been keen on ensuring that it stays ahead of the competition by consistently providing high-quality products and services. As a result, BTC made yet another strategic move to Albaster, AL in 2002. The new location enabled the company to better serve its customers by setting up a more convenient and accessible base of operations. The move to Albaster is expected to boost the company's productivity, enabling it to increase its production rate in response to the growing demand for its products.
As the company continues to experience growth and expand its product offerings, it has decided to invest in a freezer expansion in 2021 and another warehouse expansion in 2022. The freezer expansion will allow the company to store more frozen goods as it seeks to meet the increasing demand for these products. Similarly, the warehouse expansion will provide additional space for the company to store and distribute its goods efficiently. With these investments, the company is positioning itself for even more growth in the coming years.

Today we cover a 400–500-mile radius from our corporate office. We recently completed an 30,000 SQFT addition to our dry warehouse, and 8,000 SQFT addition to our freezer / cool dock to support the growing demand of foodservice. We’ve positioned ourselves for the future to continue to be one of the premier distributors in the southeast.
